Fruit quality is top-notch and suitable for transportation, storage, and ripening processes. When ripe, the outer skin turns black-purple.
The Hass avocado tree spreads out and grows rapidly. Cold damage can occur on the tree at temperatures below -1.1 °C. In Türkiye, harvesting can take place from January-February to June.
ZUTANO (Type B flower): Zutano is an avocado variety grown commercially in Türkiye, with fruit weights ranging from 170 to 400 grams. The outer surface of the fruit is bright green. When ripe, the outer color remains green. It is also a good pollinator for Hass avocado trees.
The Zutano avocado tree exhibits rapid, vigorous, and upright growth. Cold damage can occur on the tree at temperatures as low as -3.0°C. In Turkiye, harvesting can be done from October-November through January.
FUERTE (Type B flower): Fuerte is a commercially valuable avocado variety that is widely cultivated in Türkiye. Fruit weight ranges from 170 to 400 grams. Fruit quality is high, and it is suitable for transport. When ripe, the outer color remains green.
The Fuerte avocado tree grows quickly, forming a broad tree structure. Cold damage can occur on the tree at temperatures as low as -2.7°C. It may exhibit periodicity. In Türkiye, harvesting can be done from October-November to March.
BACON (Type B flower): This is an avocado variety that is commercially grown in our Türkiye and is often grown worldwide as a pollinator for Hass avocado trees. The fruit weight ranges from 170 to 400 grams. The outer surface of the fruit is dark green. When the fruit ripens, the outer surface remains green.
The Bacon avocado tree grows upright and exhibits vigorous growth. Cold damage can occur on the tree at temperatures as low as -4.4°C. In Turkey, harvesting can be done from October to January.
PINKERTON (Type A flower): This variety is commercially cultivated worldwide. Fruit weight ranges from 200 to 400 grams, and the fruit has a bumpy, necked appearance. The fruit takes longer to ripen after harvest than other varieties. When ripe, the outer surface of the fruit is dark green in color.
The Pinkerton avocado tree is semi-dwarf in growth. In the early stages, cold damage can be observed on the Pinkerton avocado tree from -2 °C onwards. In Türkiye, harvesting can be done from January to March.
